Summary/Abstract: The new information technologies are seen by the specialists as important means of alleviating the effects of social exclusion in the rural areas of Romania and to reduce the developmental gaps with the city. We conducted interviews in the collectives considered to be in social exclusion situation or at risk of social exclusion asking representative persons about their knowledge and attitudes towards the opportunities that these technologies would give them. Results are discussed in the context of the perpetuation of the social exclusion in the rural areas of Romania.
