Summary/Abstract: The study deals with the characteristics and categorization of modern architecture properties, which – as far as their quality and the degree of cultural and historical value is concerned – were decisive in their inclusion in the list of monuments. Meantime, by the term “monument” we understand not only subjects of our cultural heritage in terms of current legislation, but rather all the architectural objects and sets which we perceive to be part of the overall cultural heritage, regardless of the current legal status of their protection. To better understand and interpret the values of selected modern architecture examples which are assumed to meet the criteria for heritage protection as we understand them, their “specific” qualities are being compared with a typical cultural and historical assessment of heritage architecture properties. CATEGORIES OF CULTURAL-HISTORICAL QUALITIES IN TERMS OF THE MEANS THE VALUE WAS ACQUIRED In order to select an appropriate protection and renewal of architectural monuments, it is important to determine the respective cultural-historical property categories not only from the actual content value standpoint, but also in terms of how a specific architectural object has gained its qualities. Based on this, we can differentiate between the qualities gained directly, the qualities gained indirectly and the qualities transferred. Among the indirect properties, for example, we include a heritage value of a monument related to a significant personality or an event as well as the value of singularity. Transferred qualities are typical for architectural blocks and urban subdivisions where each building is an integral part of the whole. For a specific segment of modern architectu
