Summary/Abstract: The testy attitude of the exiled writers, in spite of the common opinion of literary critics that it represents only a stand of denial has also a positive aspect, functioning as a feedback control. It is the mirror in which we can build our own self-awareness. Writers as Budai-Deleanu, Paul Goma, Emil Cioran, Ioan Petru Culianu, and many others, are our mirrors agglutinating also the dark side of our self-image. Among patriotism, homesickness, abhorrence may function as a constructive attitude.
