PRACTICAL-APPLICATIVE STUDY ON THE CHARACTERISTICS OF FORMING THE SOCIAL REPRESENTATION OF THE PROFESSION OF OFFICER

Summary/Abstract: Social representation, as a form of social consciousness that allows rethinking reality, allows people to form an image of any fact or event encountered. The information coming from reality is processed even if our reactions are not to the objective stimuli, but according to our picture of reality. A difference in perception of the Armed Forces, of the profession of officer, of the military environment as a whole, between military personnel and civil society exists and it is normal to exist. Nevetheless, this difference must be continuously monitored by the military institution, as the representation which is closest to the reality of the profession of officer is directly related to professional attractiveness, to the image of the institution in the eyes of the public and, last but not least, to the budgetary allowances.
