Summary/Abstract: Price convergence is a challenge for new member states on their way to the European Union. The strategic orientation of Republic of Macedonia for full EU membership intensified the reforms and the process of convergence as in the other member stats is of great importance for medium term expectations for the Macedonian economy, as well as for identification of the potential risks. The authors of the article are analyzing the potential sources of upward inflation pressures for this group of countries. According to them, most of identified factors imply higher price level in the Macedonian economy on the medium term. This, the price convergence can be a major challenge for Macedonia economy on the way to the EU. This creates need for conduct of disciplined economic policies that will neutralize these effects and enable successful nominal convergence of Macedonian economy.
