Summary/Abstract: The present article is a broader study that presents the Russina Orthodox Church’s relationship with the Russian society in the context of the evolution of the relations between the Chirch, the Kremlin’s politics and the social environment in the Russian Federation since the election of the Patriarch, Kiril. The key points thet are highlighted concern theecclesiastical institutions and the dialogue of the Russian leadership with civil society, that causes many misunderstandingsand even tension due to the lack of a clear framework between these actors. According to the author’s opinion, these tensions are generated mainly because the Russian Church is lacking competent persons that can transmit information in a language or manner that is understood by the majority of society. Other aspects that are illustrated refer to the willingness and efforts of the Patriarchate to gather the Russian nation around the perennial values of Russian culture and spirituality, that transcend group interest or nationalism and even political boundaries of the Russian Federation. Profiting in turn fromthe „ecclesiastical policiesˮ, the Kremlin supports the efforts of the Patriarchate seeing in it one of the main forces of national culture and spirituality.
