Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses three manuscripts written and compiled in Samokov region. First, the prayers in the Rite of Baptism in the 17th-century part of Mus. Hist. Slavo 2 focused on. This manuscript was compiled out of two parts by diak Negro in the village of Belchin, Samokov region in the 18th century. Further, two colophons, of 1742 and 1744, written by diak Negro, are juxtaposed with colophons of Josif Bradati and Aleksi Velkovich that were written in Samokov in 1751 and 1771, respectively in order to shed light on the literacy in that period in that region. Thus the colophon, Sermon to the Readers, by diak Negro is viewed as predecessor of the later similar texts composed in Samokov. Also, the role of Paisii of Hilandar who introduced not only new ideas but also new expressions and clichés corresponding to these ideas is mentioned.
