Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the novel by Ignas Jurkunas Scheynius written in Swedish (but not finished) Golden Dog. Until now the novel has not been mentioned anywhere in the history of literature since the manuscript of the novel weathered for decades in the State Archive in Stockholm. It was found in 1998 and deciphered in 2008; this manuscript of Scheynius becomes interesting by the very literary fact, is important in the context of the author‘s creative work, and is gripping in tems of comparativistics. In the article those three ways of literature reconnaissance tackles the issues of concern, considerations, and the raised assumptions. The first one, the biographical-sociocultural aspects introduces the very manuscript of Ignas Scheynius. The genesis of the novel is raised basing it with the context material of the Stockholm Archive (Scheynius‘ diaries, letters and etc.). The second one, the literary-interpretational way discloses the conversational typology of the piece encouraging to realize the place of the novel, its importance in the Swedish epics of Scheynius. The third, comparativistics, view on the novel looks for touches, watersheds with Scheynius artistic expressions already formed in Sweden. Most probably we can expect impressionistic tones coming from the Lithuanian creation of the literature. So the comparativism forms several levels in the analysis of the novel: the relationship with the Scheynius Swedish creations, with the Lithuanian artistic world of the author, the relationship or watershed with the Swedish epic tradition. The article ends up with the conclusions which assess the very fact of the novel, its artistic value and defines its place in the creation of Scheynius.
