From aristocracy to domestic service. Prints of interesting provenance from the collection of the Library of the District Museum of the Kalisz Region in Kalisz - an introduction to the research on the museum’s book collection (Part 1)

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses selected old prints from the Library of the District Museum of the Kalisz Region in Kalisz. The collection of old prints consists of valuable items from library collections created by representatives of some of the most distinguished landed and aristocratic families. The analysis of provenance records made it possible to isolate single copies from the preserved book donations, the original owners of which were the Potocki family from Tulczyn, Wilanów and Peczar, the Tyszkiewicz family from Czerwony Dwór, the Chłapowski family from Turwia, and the Łubieński family from Szczytniki. Among the works belonging to wealthy aristocrats, we also find a book owned by the court servants.
