Summary/Abstract: The last story of Boccaccio’s The Decameron has been perceived differently over time; after a study of its receptionfrom the end of the Middle Ages, we examine how it was understood in Europe from the 16th to the 19th century,before a radical change in the 20th century by studying the plays of Dekker, Lope de Vega, Apostolo Zeno, Louise deSainctonges and Friedrich Halm: the reception of “eternal” works is extremely fluent.
