Summary/Abstract: The article is concerned with the critical analysis of Stanislav Andreski’s book, “Max Weber's insights and errors”. The author puts forward the thesis according to which the authority of the scholar cannot be an obstacle for accomplishing the critical analysis of his work. The more one enjoys the authority, the more thorough and critical in terms of content and methodology should be the analysis of his work. This thesis applies particularly to the founding fathers of modern social science (Marx, Weber, Nietzsche, Parsons, Popper and others). What is also imperative in M. Weber’s case is the analysis of the covert assumptions of his theory, of the personal motives that guided him, and of the concomitant turns in social processes. The concept should also be confronted with the results of historical research. The author concludes that Weber's theory can be applied to explain current social processes on taking into account the historical research.
