Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the various receptions of the film called Ghetto publicly screened first in 1975 in Hungary. It aims to interpret to the ways in which themes brought up by the film, such as the Shoah or the Jewish ghetto, were recognized on the one hand by politics and professionals, and on the other, by Jewish communities. Further this paper attempts to touch upon the taboo of silence enveloping Jews and the issue of Jewishness under communism.
