Summary/Abstract: The problem of plurilinguism remains a reference point of the linguistic policy of every state. From the point of view of the linguists and didacticians, the aim of language learning should be intercultural and should facilitate the discovery of other cultures. According to Jean-Louis Calvet, every citizen needs 3 languages: the language imposed by globalization, the one of his own country and a different language (a regional language, for example). The situation of French language learning in Romania in the last 6 years reads as follows : it has become the 2nd foreign language to be studied in school. The interest for learning French hasn’t diminished, a good proof being the large number of candidates who take part in DELF examinations. The interest for learning French is directed especially to certifying communicative competences.
