Summary/Abstract: This paper presents Chapters I–IV of M.K. Sarbievius‘ treatise, Dii gentium, which differs significantly from his other works in terms of content and cultural context. The translated chapters of Dii gentium feature many well-known myths interpreted allegorically, an explanation of sacred places, and a taxonomy of the Pantheon of Roman gods. The paper also examines the content of the translated parts, intertextuality of the work and both historical and cultural circumstances. It also contains the first Lithuanian translation of certain chapters of the author‘s treatise with accompanying text commentaries. This work will be useful to scholars investigating Paganism and sacred Pagan sites, as Sarbievius reveals ancient customs that may date back to the Bronze Age, and perhaps even earlier. The work is still studied and debated in literature, philosophy, and religious studies because of its historical and intellectual significance.
