Summary/Abstract: At the time of the union of Transylvania with the Kingdom of Romania, much of the education system in the region was denominational. After 1919, the situation changed as far as Orthodox denominational schools were concerned. Almost all primary schools were „statified” (became state schools). The two higher education institutions remained confessional („Andrei Saguna” High School in Brasov, „Avram Iancu” High School in Brad, „Andrei Saguna” Normal School in Sibiu). For a few years, the Archdiocese of Sibiu also established a Theological Seminary. The present study presents some aspects of these educational institutions, as they were reflected in the minutes of the representative body of the Archdiocese of Sibiu, namely the Archdiocesan Assembly.
