Phraseologies – a Source of Knowledge and Means of Development Cultural and Linguistic Competence

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the place and role of idioms(phraseological units) in the development of thecultural and linguistic competences of students.Idioms act as a link between the language andculture of the people, are a source of knowledgeof Belarusian culture, and a means of masteringmoral and spiritual values, both universal andnational. It is proposed to organize a systematicstudy and careful reading of idioms as microtexts taking their complex semantics and diversecultural information into account.
