Summary/Abstract: The concept of a successful mentor is associated with the following characteristics, qualities or psychic abilities: high professional expertise, enthusiasm, naturalness, mental flexibility, availability for communication, desire to share with the younger ones their own experience or generativity, ease in interacting with others and building a climate of trust, integrity, patience, encouragement and supportive attitude towards the trainee, the ability to empathize and, last but not least, openness to permanent learning. Mentoring activity means guidance, counseling, support, guidance towards development, orientation towards solutions, past experiences, integration into the community, support, communication, orientation, guidance; helps to discover one's own potential, facilitator of the learning process, mediates the relationship between mentor, novice teacher and students.
