Summary/Abstract: Vlad the Impaler has received special attention from historians. However, some aspects of his reign have not yet been scientifically exhausted. The specific moment of leaving the princely court of Târgoviște in favour of Bucharest remains one of the most obvious examples. In the present study, we will focus on this issue, trying to demonstrate that the move of the residence to Bucharest occurred much earlier than we thought and is not directly related to the fight against the Ottoman Empire.
