Summary/Abstract: Teacher of French in Oradea, Jean Boutiere learnt Romanian and he did numerous travels in order to discover our country, our traditions and customs. The theme of his doctoral thesis is “Life and Work of Ion Creangă”, having as scientific adviser Professor Mario Roques. In order to achieve his task he contacts G.T.Kirileanu, Artur Gorovei, D.Furtuna, G. Ibraileanu, with whom he maintains a close correspondence relationship, the latter providing him with numerous documents and records about Ion Creanga. Jean Boutière corresponded also with Andrei Mager, Bishop of Arad. From their correspondence we present you a few letters, which enlighten several aspects of his activity as author of the first important monograph about Ion Creangă.
