Summary/Abstract: This article examines the key aspects of national security policy, paying particular attention to the political and practical elements of this field on the example of Polish and the United States. The aim of the article is to understand the basic components of national security policy, their evolution and how they are implemented in different political and geographical contexts. The first part describes the fundamental elements of national security policy, including the functions of the state related to ensuring legal order, protecting citizens and defending territorial integrity. Key security policy objectives were identified, such as the survival of the state, political independence, and internal stability and sustainable socio-economic development. The authors then focused on the impact of domestic policy on national security, analyzing the political and systemic changes in Poland after 1989, including the impact of democratization, accession to NATO and the European Union, and reforms in the Armed Forces. The last part provides an analysis of practical examples of national security policy in Poland and the United States. It shows how different strategies and policy decisions affect the implementation of security policy, showing how both countries adapt their approaches to changing global and regional conditions. For the purposes of the article, a research problem was formulated: What are the key elements of national security policy and what political changes affect its shape? In accordance with the research question, a research hypothesis was put forward, which assumes that national security policy is a dynamic area, the effectiveness of which depends on the ability of states to adapt to changing political, social and technological conditions. The work uses theoretical methods, such as the analysis of literature on the subject, documents, legal acts and reliable Internet sources.
