Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the specific features of Slovak language teaching of seniors. In the first part it deals with Slovak theoretical works focused on various didactic aspects and methods applied in the process of language teaching of senior learners. It clarifies the methods and techniques that can be implemented particularly in teaching seniors. It also comments on results of the Polish study focused on methods of teaching Polish as a foreign language in a group of seniors suffering from Alzheimer’s disease to mitigate conditions related to the disease. The study emphasizes that seniors represent a specific group of learners which require the usage of traditional methods. Implementing the methods of communicative teaching is not always a suitable procedure. On the basis of theoretical works and own practice, the study also brings several methodological suggestions concerning the work with seniors during language learning.
