Summary/Abstract: The article aims to provide an insight into what digitization means for financial-banking services, bringing to the forefront the recently adopted European regulation of crypto-assets and their markets. As a number of debates are about whether or not new technologies are covered by international law, this article comes with proposals to clarify these issues. Any characterisation of a branch of law starts from its sources and subjects or participants. Discussions about the international or national nature of new technology law are devoid of content and purpose because, for example, if we have states and international organisations as the main subjects of law, then we are dealing with international law. An additional argument is the identity and correspondence of rights and obligations. These questions are similar to those about the law of the sea or maritime law, because new technologies have no borders but also depend on geography. The multidisciplinary exploratory method, based on primary and secondary research materials, was used in the development of this study.
