Summary/Abstract: Using the self-determination theory, the study investigates resilience and well-being in young Somali refugees residing in Turkey (SDT). The ongoing difficulties that Somali refugee youth encounter must be well comprehended to determine how these factors affect their ability to adapt and their psychological health. Through the application of SDT's three psychological needs - autonomy, competence, and relatedness - the research seeks to investigate the variables that both contribute to and affect the resilience and overall wellbeing of young Somali refugees. The study examined how these needs were met in the face of displacement problems and how they affected the participants' resilience using a qualitative approach and in-depth interviews. The study's conclusions demonstrated that in spite of difficulties and misfortunes, Somali refugee youth displayed extraordinary perseverance and their attempt to their fundamental psychological demands. The study revealed that fulfilling three essential needs enhances individuals' well-being in various aspects of life, such as work, hobbies, education, language, and social support. These findings underscore the importance of establishing an environment that nurtures autonomy, competence, and relatedness to increase resilience and overall well-being. These results have significant implications for future interventions and policymakers aiming to support refugees.
