Summary/Abstract: Margareta Zsizsik was one of the leading names of the Timisoara opera scene, which she served with dedication and passion for 25 years (1960-1985). Endowed with a versatile, falcon voice, she tackled the dramatic mezzo-soprano repertoire with the same ease with which she performed operetta prima donna repertoire, which calls for a soprano's voice, as well as two extremely difficult roles in the opera repertoire intended for the spinto-dramatic soprano voice: Floria Tosca from Giacomo Puccini's Tosca and Santuzza from Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana. The personal charm, the scenic and musical intelligence, the impeccable vocal technique, acquired during her studies at the Music Lyceum in Cluj-Napoca, under the guidance of Maestro D'Andrée, have marked the exceptional value of her interpretations. Adored by the Timisoara audience, she was greeted with a loud round of applause when she appeared on stage. In the same way, some of her creations, especially from the operetta repertoire, have remained linked to her name over time. We refer to Hanna Glavary from Franz Lehár's Merry Widow, Countess Maritza from Emmerich Kálmán's operetta of the same name or Cecilia from the operetta Silvia by the same composer.
