EXCLAMATIONS IN THE DIALECT OF RIZE WITH THEIR FUNCTIONAL CONTEXT

Summary/Abstract: Exclamations, which are words in all languages spoken in the world to be used for reflecting various emotional states or thoughts such as excitement, fear, sadness, joy, regret, desire, longing, surprise belonging to all humanity, are a type of word that has an important function in conveying various emotions or expressing actions. They are the functioning and meaningful words that help to express feelings and thoughts in the shortest and most effective way. Exclamations, which are products of both written and spoken language, are even more effective in spoken language. Exclamation, which is a controversial subject in Turkish Science studies in terms of type, scope, and classification, differs from other language elements such as nouns and verbs in terms of structure and usage. Interjections, which have no meaning on their own but gain meaning depending on the context in the sentence, are used in many different functions in Turkey Turkish dialects. Accordingly, in this study, which aims to determine and evaluate the use of exclamations in the dialect of Rize according to their functions, firstly, the theoretical framework was established by scanning the literature on exclamations. Then, the exclamations in Rize dialect were determined by scanning and compilation method. As a result of the study, 141 exclamations and 25 functions undertaken by these exclamations were determined in the Rize dialect in line with their emotional values and the meanings they add to the context in the sentence.
