Herodotus’ Historiosophy

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the historiosophy of Herodotus as developed in his history and as influenced by the sophistics and the legal rhetoric. It presents also the similarity between his method and the one of Socrates, as well as its relation to the ancient drama. Another matter of interest are Herodotus‘s moralizing attitudes, the difference between his wisdom and the one of the logographs, his pessimistc anthroposophy, his notions of happiness and the meaning of human life.
