Summary/Abstract: The author analyzes the suicides occurring in a large French company, events that provoked much debate in France. The aim of the article is to formulate the issue of the deep changes in personality taking place in the age of “flexibility” and pure market efficiency. The author examines the mechanisms of breakdown of solidarity, the role of human resources management in the new workplaces, which he calls “antipathy laboratories”.
