Summary/Abstract: Daniil Kharms is an intricate and paradoxal author and his work unquestionably represents a peculiar phenomenon in Russian literature. The subject of our thesis resides in the theme of violence in Daniil Kharms`prose.These acts of violence abound in countless interpretable clues which we can detect in his work: violence as a form of protest against the socio-political system, as an allusion to political oppression and persecution, and as means for the author to reveal his own despair which stems from the events of the times. The aim of the present analysis is to delve into the iterative types of violence in Kharms`creation and to identify the means pertaining to the aesthetics of the ugly, employed by the author.
