Summary/Abstract: The bilingual monographic book entitled Institutul Naţional de Cercetare Dezvoltare Marină “Grigore Antipa” Constanţa – Repere istorice /The National Institute for Marine Research and Development “Grigore Antipa” Constanţa – Historical highlights, presents the founding of this Research and Development Institute in Constanţa in 1970, reorganized in 1990, and its evolution to the present. After a brief introduction on the sea, seven chapters refer to the Black Sea and highlight the personalities of the founders of Romanian marine research, the marine research institutions prior to the establishment of the Romanian Institute for Marine Research and Development “Grigore Antipa” Constanţa INCDM (1970), Romanian marine research over 100 years, Romania and the International Commission for the Scientific Exploration of the Mediterranean Sea and the Bystroe Navigation Canal in relation to the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve and the Black Sea ecosystem. Four narratives from France, the Russian Federation, Turkey and Italy are added. The volume is completed with 89 black and white and color illustrations, an exhaustive bibliography and 5 Annexes.
