Summary/Abstract: Over the last 30 years of social changes in Finland, multiculturalism has become a very common theme in Finnish children’s literature. The texts dealing with this theme include Riikka Ala-Harja’s series on Ebba, which presents the story of the heroine and her reflections on national identity, belonging to different social groups, and other challenges of the contemporary world. This article examines the first part of the series, the book Kahden maan Ebba [Ebba From Two Countries] (2017), juxtaposed with statistical data on the presence of children in contemporary Finnish society.
