Summary/Abstract: On 10-11 July 2021, at Silistra, a number of religious events were held in the metropolitan cathedral dedicated to the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, in the presence of hierarchs from several Orthodox Churches. On behalf of the Romanian Orthodox Church, with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, the events were attended by His Grace Visarion, bishop of Tulcea. Celebrations began in the evening of Saturday, 10 July 2021, in the metropolitan cathedral, with the service of the Vigil led by His Eminence Naum, metropolitan of Ruse. On the following day, 11 July 2021, a synaxis of bishops, priests and deacons celebrated the Holy Liturgy in the city’s cathedral. The synaxis of bishops included His Eminence Iacob, metropolitan of Durostor, His Eminence Naum, metropolitan of Ruse, His Eminence metropolitan Agapet (the Ukrainian Orthodox Church), His Eminence Archbishop Nicodim of Edineț (the Metropolis of Moldova) and His Grace Visarion, bishop of Tulcea (the Romanian Patriarchate). At the end of the Holy Liturgy service, metropolitan Iacob of Durostor delivered a sermon and thanked the hierarchs, priests and faithful in attendance. The religious events continued with a procession around the holy place of worship, carrying the relics of the holy martyrs of Durostor, which are kept in the metropolitan cathedral. The procession paused before the tombs of the former metropolitans of Durostor, Hilarion and Ambrosius, where a Trisagion was officiated for their remembrance. After the procession, His Grace Visarion offered a Cross for the Holy Altar of the Metropolitan Cathedral, thanking the hosts for their invitation to take part in these moments of joy and spiritual elevation. Priests and devout Christians from Romania also participated in the events, as a token of Christian fellowship.
