Summary/Abstract: Council Regulation (EU) No 1259/2010 of 20 December 2010 implementing enhanced cooperation in the area of the law applicable to divorce and legal separation shall apply in situations involving a conflict of laws to divorce and legal separation. Also, this Regulation includes the rules on the choice of applicable law by the parties, applicable law in the absence of choice by the parties, application of the law of the forum, etc. Besides that, this Regulation regulates the exclusion of renvoi, public policy, territorial and inter-personal conflicts of laws and the relationship with the existing international conventions. This Regulation shall apply from 21 June 2012.
