Summary/Abstract: The aim of the present article is to research the level of digital competences of the people in Bulgaria. We have used Eurostat data for the period 2015-2020, summarized on an annual basis. Figures for Bulgaria are compared to those of the European Union (EU27). In addition, we have researched certain data related to hiring IT personnel. Results in the article summarize the current level of digital competences as well as directions for further development. The article was written under a project of the Scientific Research Fund, and namely ”Digitalization and Digital Competences – Trends and Innovative Practices in Higher Education and the Labour Market” (№ КП-06-Н45/1 of 2020).
