Summary/Abstract: As a translator and researcher of theater and drama specializing in Finnish contemporary auteur-theater I am often faced with difficulties not only in finding ways to translate Finnish theater texts into Hungarian and to make them performable, but also in finding ways to think and speak about theater translation within the bounds of the existing terminology. In the present essay I try to find answers to the question how theater translation studies can offer ideas for a sustainable theater exchange between peripheral European theater ecosystems.
