Short Description

The electronic journal “Ongal” is a periodical for ethnology, medieval studies and archaeology, published on the web page of the ‘Ongal’ Association of Anthropology, Ethnology and Folklore Studies (ISSN 1314 – 3115). The journal aims at disseminating the results from the scholarly projects and investigations conveyed by the Association. The first two volumes of the journal (i.e. Vol. 1. “The Spaces of Culture,” and Vol. 2. “Scholarly Trends in Ethnology”) contain doctoral theses and theses abstracts of the Association affiliates. The third volume presents the proceedings of the conference in honour of the 110th anniversary of the birth of Nikola Kostadinov Zhalov (1900-1965), a renowned Bulgarian ethnologist, journalist and writer. The conference, entitled “A Lecture on Cultural Tourism in Rupchos,” took place in 2009, in the village of Hvoina, Chepelare region. The fourth volume of the electronic journal “The Blessed Paisii of Hilandar: His Birthplace, His Works, His Context” contains monographs and articles discussing among other things the hypothesis of Samokov as a birthplace of St Paisii of Hilandar, the forefather of Bulgarian national revival in the second half of the seventeenth century.
