Short Description

“Studia Iberystyczne” is a scientific periodical referring to the language, literature, culture and social issues in Spain, Portugal, Latin America and countries in which Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan or Galician languages are used officially or locally. The orbit of interest of the periodical includes also the theoretical issues form the subject of linguistic studies. The periodical is published by the Institute of Spanish Studies and the Institute of Portuguese and Translation Studies of the Roman Philology Department of the Jagiellonian University. Until 2007 the editor of the periodical had been professor doctor reader Teresa Eminowicz-Jaśkowska, starting from the 7th issue the role has been held by doctor lecturer Anna Sawicka. The first issues (no 0: 1994 and no 1: 1999) have been published irregularly, from the 2nd number (2003) the periodical has been an annual, with the editorial committee constituted in 2003. The primary aim of the periodical created in 1994 was to promote in Poland the effects of research led by Polish and foreign iberists. Having fulfilling this aim until its 7th issue (2008) the periodical started to include articles in congress languages, in order to promote abroad research held by Polish iberists, to enter a closer cooperation with research centres abroad. The publication is being financed by the Dean of the Department of Linguistic Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
