Summary/Abstract: The migrant crisis is currently one of the most popular topics in the public space. This topic seems to be of importance to many groups, beginning with politicians, the media, celebrities, through social workers, activists, and on to ordinary people. The voice that is heard in the ocean of opinions and media coverage is the voice of the Catholic Church, epitomized by the Pope Francis, national Episcopal Conferences, as well as priests, monks, or nuns. The message of the Church is clear, however the media quite frequently take the liberty to interpret it in various ways. Sometimes it is even subject to manipulation, which is aimed at helping the supporters or adversaries of the refugees. This article offers an analysis of the main messages by the Church officials in the context of the media coverage.
