Summary/Abstract: The American documentary sources briefly mention the developments in Albanian during 1878-1881. However, they help us to understand in a more complete manner the historical process of the League of Prizren. On the other hand the fact that Albania is mentioned in these documents is of certain significance. A far away country such as USA had no immediate interests in Albania and beside all had developed an isolationist policy toward Europe as well as had demonstrated a total disinterest toward the developments in Near East. Therefore the mentioning of the Albania issue from the American diplomats in their reports for Washington it is an indirect indicator to the fame of the events that took place during that time in Albania and not the small troubles caused by the Albanian resistance to the decisions taken by the Concert of Europe. The documents have certain value in order to understand the manner in which Albanians are seen and how their demands were interpreted, something that makes us understand the level of development in which was the Albanian National Movement. The American diplomats by living in the Old Continent took the experiences and the viewpoints of these countries and were influenced in this manner by the public opinion and the interests of the government staff where they served. However, they had as well their own independent opinions, they were Americans, bearers of the values of the country from which they where coming from. Here appears another value of these documents. They present to us the American viewpoint toward the national movements that during that period were boiling over in Europe. Nevertheless often were influenced negatively due to the lack of knowledge toward Albania, which was distant not only for them but also for the great majority of the Europeans. In this manner they would be influenced easily due to the personal sympathies nurtured for different populations of the region. This was a great deal of time before Albanians and their demands would be heard well and be understood in a clear way in Washington.
